Hexachlorocyclopentadiene (HEX) is a product that is used to produce bonding agents to adhere rubber to metal components. The bonding agents provide flexibility, strength and abrasion resistance. Applications include: in auto and trucks for bumpers, brakes and seals. A new use is in transport bridges for flexibility and weather resistance.
Another use for HEX is in the semi-conductor industry for etching of computer chips. The etching process is environmentally friendly, provides zero ozone depletion, has a short atmospheric life and processes quickly.
HEX is also used as the key raw material in the production of Chlorendic Anhydride, a flame retardant used for smoke suppression and corrosion resistance.
